VACCINATION INFORMATION:
-DHPP: This vaccine is recommended for all dogs and protects against Canine Distemper, Canine Hepatitis, Canine Parvovirus, and Canine Parainfluenza Virus. It is recommended that the DHPP vaccine be boostered every 2-4 weeks up until the patient is 16 weeks of age or older. There are 3 rounds of the DHPP vaccine included in all puppy packages.
-RABIES: This vaccine helps to prevent rabies infections and the spread of rabies. This vaccine is also required by law and is included in all puppy packages.
-BORDETELLA: This Vaccine helps prevent one of the organisms that causes kennel cough, Bordetella bronchiseptica. This is included in all puppy packages. It is recommended for pets that socialize with other dogs or get boarded. Although this vaccine is very effective in preventing kennel cough, breakthrough cases can happen (especially since there are numerous agents that cause kennel cough) but having your pet vaccinated helps your pet experience fewer severe symptoms and recover faster.
-CIV (Canine Influenza): This vaccine covers one common strain of the Canine Influenza Virus. This is recommended for dogs that go to dog parks, boarding, grooming, training, or any other areas where there are a lot of dogs gathering. This vaccine needs to be boostered 3-4 weeks after the initial vaccination and then is an annual vaccine. The patient is not considered protected until 2 weeks after the second dose. Although this vaccine is very effective in preventing canine influenza, breakthrough cases can happen but having your pet vaccinated helps your pet experience less severe symptoms and recover faster.
-LEPTOSPIROSIS (Leptospira): This vaccine is recommended for dogs that go to dog parks, camping, hiking, hunting, or that do other outdoor activities. This bacterium can cause severe liver and kidney disease and is transmissible to humans. Pets generally acquire this infection from contact with urine from infected animals or from open bodies of water.. This vaccine needs to be boostered 3-4 weeks after the initial vaccination and then is an annual vaccine.
-LYME: This is a disease that is spread by ticks that can cause fevers, joint pain, and kidney damage. This vaccine is recommended for dogs that go to areas with high numbers of ticks. This vaccine needs to be boostered 3-4 weeks after the initial vaccination and then is an annual vaccine.
-FECAL TEST: We send a fecal sample from your patient to our lab to be tested for intestinal parasites as well as Giardia.
-DEWORMING: The deworming provided in the puppy packages covers roundworms and hookworms.
